LUMPIA (filipino egg rolls)

A pretty popular dish that almost everyone knows about. In my family, we always have lumpia at every holiday or event. You can make this same recipe with ground beef or pork and they will all be just as delicious! Double or Triple this recipe and have your family help you roll. You can fry some now and freeze the rest.

  • 1 pkgs of lumpia wrappers (1 pkg makes 40 pieces)

  • 1.5lbs of ground beef

  • 1 small onion - diced

  • 7 cloves garlic - minced

  • 3 large carrots - shredded; about 1.5 cups

  • 0.5lb of green beans - diced; about 1.5 cups

  • 1.5 cups of bean sprouts

  • 2 cups of shredded cabbage

  • 1tbsp of beef bouillon

  • 1.5c soy sauce

  • salt and pepper to taste

In a large wok, heat oil in medium-high heat and sauté garlic and onions til translucent, add ground beef and cook til cooked through.

Add carrots, green beans, bean sprouts and cabbage then mix well

Add soy sauce and bouillon and continue to sauté till everything is mixed together well. Add salt and pepper to taste.

When filling is ready, put into a strainer to drain all the liquid. Set aside to cool. When cooled, wrap your egg rolls and fry them or place in freezer. :)
